FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Top Nutritionist Offers Expert Opinion Regarding Sugar/Carbohydrates and Its Health Consequences
There are new insights into how sugar turns an inert LDL molecule to a deadly one. The USDA still follows flawed data regarding sugar, fat and health. Why is this?
Dallas, TX, April 10, 2012 — CBS’ 60 Minutes recently did a story discussing the implications of sugar in our diet.
What the public has been told regarding fats, cholesterol and carbohydrates over the last 40 years has been wrong. Recent discoveries in scientific research show why sugar and simple carbohydrates are the main culprits in heart disease, diabetes and obesity. Still, the U.S. Government (USDA, CDC, FDA) and most dieticians follow a guideline that is out of date and it is costing the health of the population.
Dr. Lori Shemek of DLS Healthworks, LLC and author of FIRE-UP YOUR FAT BURN! has advocated for years the health implications of sugar. In a recent article, The Number One Key To Reduce Aging and Living Longer, she explains that the over-consumption of sugar leads to faster aging and age-related diseases. Going beyond the 60 Minutes story, her research has uncovered even more information regarding the health consequences of ingesting sugar.
According to Dr. Shemek; “Sugar is responsible for glycation or the carmelization of bodily tissues. Think of crispy browned potatoes on the stove – this crispy browned effect is what occurs in our bodies with the ingestion of sugar.” Furthermore, “This leads to the creation of a new “sticky” LDL cholesterol molecule that is much more deadly than the regular LDL cholesterol.”
Helping the public to gain more understanding of why they should eliminate processed sugars from their diet is important in all areas of health. This includes inflammation and cardiovascular disease.
Listed by the Huffington Post as one of the Top 16 Health and Fitness Experts as well as a Health Expert for ABC’s Top-Rated television show, Good Morning Texas, Dr. Lori Shemek is available for interviews in the area of nutrition and health, especially when it comes to sugar and inflammation.
